The 2nd issue of MONDO CULT magazine is out, with two new film reviews by John DeChancie, one on an oldie--JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH--and a newbie--CHILDREN OF MEN. Look for MONDO CULT #2 on newsstands very soon!

"HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL"

John's latest article just came out in the new film magazine MONDO CULT, which just put out its premiere issue.   John's piece is a sidebar to a longer article on the classic horror thriller "House on Haunted Hill."   John provides a short history and background on the famous Frank Lloyd Wright house that served as the exterior location.   The piece is called "Wright's House on Haunted Hill."

JOHN DECHANCIE WINS FORRY AWARD

John DeChancie was the 2005 recipient of the Forry Award, given by the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society for  “Lifetime Achievement in the Field of Science Fiction and Fantasy,”  as the plaque reads.   The award was presented at  Loscon 32  on November 26, 2005, at the LAX Marriott.   In his acceptance speech, DeChancie thanked everyone involved and the entire membership of the  LASFS.

A NEW SCREENPLAY by JOHN DECHANCIE

John has just completed a screenplay titled  “Figure 8”  for Jesulu Productions of Hollywood.   The script is now making the rounds of directors and actors.   The screenplay is an adaptation of a story by SF author J. Neil Schulman  (winner of the Prometheus Award and author of the 1980s Twilight Zone script “Profile in Silver”).   Schulman’s story is an exciting and often funny time-travel romance with strong character portrayals and a complex plot.   DeChancie’s script delighted Schulman and was immediately registered with the Author’s Guild script registration service.

FINDING THE FUTURE:   A Science Fiction Conversation

Anomalous Entertainment is pleased to announce a festival screening of their feature-length documentary, Finding The Future:  A Science Fiction Conversation, which is an official selection of the 2004 New York Independent Film and Video Festival.

Shot against the backdrop of several major science fiction conventions, including the Chicago and San Jose Worldcons, Finding the Future examines how science fiction has impacted our society and how society’s resultant evolution has pushed the boundaries of science fiction ever farther “out there.”   Through the thoughtful commentary of prominent authors and enthusiastic fans, we explore the culture of science fiction and the passion of its devotees for the genre.

Finding the Future features conversations with Ben Bova, Joan Slonczewski, Bob Eggleton, Robert Silverberg, Fred Saberhagen, David Brin, Lois McMaster Bujold, Roger Christian, Forrest Ackerman, Cory Doctorow, Catherine Asaro, Jody Lynn Nye, Jack L. Chalker, Mike Resnick, John DeChancie, James Glass, and many others.   Also featuring art by Martina Pilcerova, Robert Ross, Alan Gutierrez, Larry Vela, and Frank Lurz.   And, filk songs by Leslie Fish.

Finding the Future will be screened at the following location and time:
Date:   Sunday, May 2, 2004
Time:   2:00 pm
Place:   Village East Cinema, 181 2nd Avenue at 12th Street, New York, NY 10003

Keep an eye out for future presentations of this film elsewhere and elsewhen.
